North
Korea Investigative Mission Trip 2001
Occupation:
Online editor at a major newspaper company
How I became
a Christian: Fall semester of 9th grade, my Sunday School teacher
gave my class a survey to take, and based on my responses he knew
I hadn't truly given up my life to God. One evening he came to my
house and explained that I was a sinner and needed to accept Jesus
into my heart to be saved. That night I prayed the sinner's prayer
with him and became a Christian for the first time.
How I got
interested in North Korea: During college I went to a church
with a strong missions focus that sent several missions teams out
in the summer. I participated in several of the training sessions
for mission trips to Mexico, but had to withdraw because of changes
in my summer plans. Still, the things I learned during those training
sessions and from the church have made missions weigh heavily on
my heart. Going to Urbana 96 also opened my eyes to how God is working
and using His people for missions around the world. The more I learn
about the world about us, the more my heart aches for those who
live in suffering and spiritual darkness. Reports of famine in North
Korea and the large number of refugees fleeing into China have filled
the news for the past few years. As an Asian, and specifically a
Korean, a chance to go on missions in China to reach out to North
Koreans has a special significance.
What gives
me joy: Food, folks and fun! (Not necessarily in that order)
