North
Korea Investigative Mission Trip 2001
Invitation
It
is estimated that more than 3 million people in North Korea have
died of starvation and starvation-related causes the past 5 years.
That is 15 percent of the population! Yet, most of the world remains
oblivious to the needs of the millions of perishing people in North
Korea.
I would
like to invite you to join us this summer in an adventure of a lifetime!
We might not be able to enter North Korea, but we can do the next
best thing. This summer I will be leading a team to go to the border
of North Korea in Northeast China to look for North Korean refugees,
learn about the situation in North Korea, and distribute what we
learn to people through email and the Internet to create a worldwide
network for North Korea missions.
Currently
there are hundreds, if not thousands, of North Korean refugees in
northern China who are hiding from authorities. The North Korean
government is actively looking for these refugees to return them
to North Korea for punishment and possible execution. However, North
Korean refugees in China are perhaps our greatest resource for discovering
the reality of the dire and desperate situation in North Korea.
Their stories have great potential to stir interest in North Korea
if made known to the world. Furthermore, these North Korean refugees
themselves are in need of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
The goal
of the North Korea Investigative Mission Trip 2001 is simple: to
learn as much as we can about North Korea from refugees in China
and then to distribute what we learn to people to create a worldwide
network for North Korea missions. (We will protect the identity
of all refugees and mission workers for their safety.) Each team
member will be required to gather 100 to 1,000 email addresses of
people willing to receive email updates from the team in China.
This email list of 1,000 to 10,000 people will be the start of a
network for North Korea missions where people will be connected
and encouraged to work together and share ideas and opportunities.
We will also develop a Website with resources and opportunities
related to North Korea that will, Lord willing, become a world center
for North Korea missions.
I invite
you to join us in this historic venture this summer. Opportunities
include joining the Field Team that physically goes to northern
China, working with the Communications Team that supports technical
and communication issues from the homefront, or becoming a partner
by giving financially or praying as part of the Support Team.
Whether
you’re from the U.S., Europe, or Asia, seize the opportunity. Consider
giving your summer for this worthy cause. Yours,
NK Dave
Team Leader
